Its opening, well-known to every American schoolchild, states: This project is the brainchild of a group of professionals who believe in providing an efficient platform for inter-disciplinary knowledge dissemination through cutting short the bureaucracy of academic publications, establishing equality among thinkers of all nationalities and all economic status, and shortening the period between the transmission of a message and its deciphering, thereby, advancing human quality of life globally. The Declaration of Independence is arguably one of the greatest legal documents – and the greatest break-up note – of all time. It combines summaries of academic knowledge with experience and well-thought-off views, and bring them to the fore-front of the public space, where people can use them to enhance their own and others’ knowledge, pinpoint to the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments, and contribute fresh ideas, thereby, improving upon our global understanding. It provides an opportunity for professionals and others to express their ideas and thoughts, recalibrating ethical compasses in a positive, constructive and based-on-facts fashion. This space is dedicated to the learning of global political, economic and social issues. It will take the US a long time to correct its ‘current misbehavior’ and go back to its initial and cruel capitalist policy… or maybe it will use this enforced opportunity to resort to a more humane economic system. Pundits who regularly criticize some EU and Scandinavian countries as socialist-for distributing public assets in pursuit of their people’s happiness-can now swallow their words.

People in America do not need to work, produce or compete-principles extolled by the philosophy of a free market-to gain access to government funds. The US government plans to distribute money to US residents just because of their residency. After all, the US government just passed into law the largest financial support ever provided to it residents in US history. Moreover, capitalism, claimed by philosophers, economists, and social scientists to be the most efficient and the most ethical economic system has lost some of its luster over the last few months. Not only is the government instructing all residents to remain confined in their homes to protect lives-thereby taking away some of their right to free assembly-but Americans also have given away their right to spend their free time in any way that they choose, be it traveling, playing, dining, visiting, or any other mode of the pursuit of happiness. For example, in this instance, securing life may come at the cost of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The current health crisis has proven that in times of crisis these are not three independent rights that should be concurrently fulfilled but rather that these are three dependent rights and the fulfilment of one of them may impair the fulfilment of the others. Many philosophers, economists, and social scientists declared capitalism to be the most efficient economic model to protect those rights.

Declaration of Independence sanctifies life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as “unalienable rights” that have been given to all humans by their creator, and which governments are created to protect. For liberty I’ll sacrifice my love” (Sándor Petőfi). “Liberty and love, these two I must have.
